i have a similar issue, but i thought it was the Quadro 4000's fan. i might be wrong, it could be the Mac Pro fans. but anyhow, yes, i hear the fans all day long. not sure what causes this. i do know that the Quadro 4000 runs very hot.

It's still a bootloader. Some are trying for insane prices for them, others go with the market value. Whatever feels good to ya.

Well, I'm doing a shool work, where whe had to come up with an product. My idea is an iPod touch phone-case (more information in the link). So if you have an iPod touch, please answer my 4 questions at: http://www.quibblo.com/quiz/b-_YP5W/...uch-phone-case
Thanks in advance
Albert
PS, I know that Apple would do everything to not let me sell this product and ruin my idea, but when you vote, just ignore the reality.

So I bought an iBook G4 1.07GHZ, early 2004 model 12" off ebay. After a day or two, the screen started randomly turning off, the screen would be on, i could see the backlight, it would just go black and the computer would still be on but quit everything.
And more and more would when I would reboot, as soon as I hit the power button, The backlight would come on, no image, no chime, but the fans would churn like a jet engine and couldn't cut power unless battery removed.
I was about to return the item for a refund but I found a page about "this known iBook G4" logic board issue and this guy actually found the problem and how to fix it without buying a new logic board. It's not the logic board, it's just one chip on the logic board that was either designed with a flaw or such.
He describes the problem being after months/years of heating and cooling down, this one chips connectors would crack and loose contact with the logic board, causing these problems. It mainly happened when the system would heat up and the connectors would expand.
As a temp fix, he said take the bottom case off and Put a rubber shim on top of the chip and replace the case, causing slight pressure down on the chip to maintain contact. With over 600 comments and they all seemed to work for everyone, I tried it, and what do you know, it worked, so far, like a charm. It is a temp fix, who's to know how long it last, Maybe a week, maybe over a year. But the real fix is to solder the tiny connectors again to achieve a new connection. Very simple, it's more skill to disassembled the notebook itselfs as these G4 iBooks are known for the hair pulling repairs due to how they are built and assembled. I replaced the hardrive and it was over an hour job just getting in and popped it in. My old G4 Powerbook, I achieved a drive swap in 10 minutes. Hopes this helps anyone with this problem!
The link can be found here with intructions and photos to identify the problem. My iBook 1.07GHZ had the same logic board as his photos, my G4 1.33ghz is different, even though people with higher processors than 1.07 have had this problem, It mainly "effected" 800MHZ-1.07GHZ models.

Not sure about i5, but fast i7 with 4 real cores plus 4 virtual ones can run bigadv. But SMP2 is pretty good, so you need a real fast i7 to get enough bonus to be worth it.
well how do you think an i5 650 would do with the SMP2? stock is 3.2 ghz - but i've read they are easily overclocked to well over 4 ghz on air

I am also interested in that. In fact, I think I asked a similar question when the PSP Go came out...
I think you can download games from all the international stores if create respective accounts and you have a way to pay for them (e.g. PSN cards), but you can only sync your PSP with one account at a time.
Quite a pain in the ass, really. Ideally you should pick one country's PSN store and stick with it, that way you'll always be able to have all your content with you.
EDIT: Found the thread - this should answer most of your questions:

For 1.1.1 all you need to do is visit JailBreakMe.com on your browser. It'll do the work for you via the Safari Exploit. This will not work on 1.1.2+.

The real question is how much ram does your system have currently. The rule of thumb is:
If 2-4GB, the gains are nominal at best, however more memory can be addressed per single process.
If 8+GB, and straight from the factory on a 2010+ mac it should be booting in 64 bit mode to address all the memory. However, if you reinstall OSX it reverts back to 32-bit mode. Your gains will be much better here b/c the system will see 4GB of memory in 32-bit mode and 8+ in 64-bit mode. This is why sever OSes are strictly 64-bit today. Also, you should be able to assign more memory per process.
Hope that helps.

"I had this issue to. The solution is a bit odd but it works. You'll have to follow the following steps:
1. Add the Insanelyi repo (repo.insanelyi.com)
2. Install iRetiner from there. The reason it must be installed from insanely is because insanely doesn't require ImageMagick, instead it uses EricaUtilities.
I tried this and it worked. This was the way installed it the first time I got but I forgot about for a long time
I hope I helped."

Most of the apple users work on Windows PC's at work. At least I do... Hope that changes sometime...
Anyways, I'm a vivid .Mac user, have all my stuff stored in Mail, Addressbook, iCal, Safari Bookmarks ,etc. I iSync everything to .Mac but when I'm at work, I have no counterpart application for it...
I'm stuck with the bookmarks popup window that at least has now links to the addressbook and the mail application. There's no link to iCal or anything web based that allows me to change and update my iCal calendar.
Is there something that can edit iCal files on a windows pc?

That is correct for the sawtooth, I think, it might be only 1.5Gb of ram though. The B&W I think is the same.

I really wish Netflix would stream the original audio track, I really hate watching anime with English dubs. English dubs ruin the whole experience, a lot of the context is lost once they dub it..
Maybe someday Netflix will finally offer the original audio track and not massacre all their streaming anime.
Some of the Netflix streaming anime is Japanese with English subtitles (just saw the streaming Naruto and it was in Japanese with English subtitles).
I actually prefer the anime in English since
a) That was the way I originally saw it in almost all cases and I'm expecting the same voices.
b) I usually have it on as background (i.e. with subtitles I have to give it 100% of my attention).

I went from late 2008 > early 2011. Bar the airport issues, it seems a solid upgrade. Not amazingly faster, but FCP and CS5 stuff seems quicker.

i guess my main question is how to do this? how do i turn my 327w into bringe mode and then make the aebs the main modem/router and just get the data from the westell?
I think you are confused. You cannot turn the AEBS into a modem, because it is a router. A modem takes the incoming signal from your ISP and converts it into a format your computer can make sense out of. The AEBS does not have this capability, as it relies on the demodulated signal from the modem.

"iSee iTunes" is a Tivo HME application that acts as an remote graphical display and remote control for iTunes including:
* Cover Art display (if it exists in iTunes)
* Song title/album/artist display
* Duration/current play position display/control
* Next/Previous song control
* Star rating display/control
* Playlist display/control with shuffle toggle
* Party Shuffle display/control
* iTunes computer name display
* iTunes operation via host computer triggers display/control updates
* Checks for new version and displays on host computer splash screen
No iTunes Audio will come from the TiVo, this is meant ONLY for controlling iTunes. If you want to hear audio from outside your computer system you should connect an AirPort Express with AirTunes or the host computer itself to your stereo system.

Any updates from Valley fair San Jose?
LOL... Despite my best efforts, I'm still at work and haven't had a chance to head out to Valley Fair yet... would also like to hear how bad it is, or if I should go to Oakridge...

Currently, I have two Airport Express base stations acting as repeaters for the main Linksys router. I can roam from Airport to Airport fine, but can't do this once connected to the Linksys.
I am considering getting an Airport Extreme to replace the Linksys router, but I have two questions.
1. Will roaming work throughout the house perfectly if I switch to an Airport Extreme as the main router?
2. How do you go about setting this kind of system up? I believe it's similar to a WDS, but I want to use Ethernet on each base station because I can and it will be faster than relying on wireless.
