I'm serious. There is nothing like Foobar for OS X. Well... I guess there is VLC.
That is all I can think of. The reason there is no wide variety on OS X is because iTunes is pretty much the best, even if it is bloated and doesn't play some higher quality formats.

Yes, legality of the pirated movies. That's what I thought that was. I've just never seen something move that quick before. I had read about this in the newspapers before, but I didn't know what it looked like. this was the only place I could think of in the search I did to ask. Thank you.
The word "pirated" is probably your best clue as to its legality or not in your jurisdiction.
It looks like a Usenet search engine.
For my money, I'd rather spend money renting a movie rather than spending hours downloading dodgy rips in obscure codecs.

Hi,
As it says in the title I need some suggestions for a Wireless Keyboard and Mouse for the Mac Mini. ( I will be getting it next month, I already have 8gb ram ready to go in it :) ).
This will be my 1st MAC and I will be using it for everday tasks (Watching DVD's, E-mail, surfing, some iPhoto) aswell as playing World of Warcraft.
I like the look of the Apple wireless keyboard and the Magic mouse but I was wondering if they are worth the 114 asking price or are there better alternatives?.
Thanks.
EDIT : If I eventually use Bootcamp to put Windows 7 on the Mini would the Magic Mouse work?.

Sysops are commonly used to patrol all the edits to make sure that bad content doesn't creep in - reverting edits back to where they were if an edit was bogus. (They use that "Mark edit as Patrolled" link)
^^^
Good idea.
Whould also be nice if people were consistant about putting a little bit of text in the summary, at least, when doing Major edits.

Hi everyone!
I am a bit new to Illustrator, and graphic design, but I've been using it long enough to know that the paintbrush tool is not working. Whenever I press on it in the tool bar, and/or press b, and it just gives me this symbol, and makes a line while I'm drawing, but the line goes away after.
I've done a software updates for Adobe and my Mac, restarted Illustrator, restarted my computer, and it just doesn't work!
FYI: it has the same symbol when I go into the pencil tool (I don't know if it is the right one for the pencil either.)
HELP!
Thank you!

Does it exist? If so, can someone give me a link? I'm getting a 233mhz G3 PM and want to put it to work.
For a baseline I installed and ran it under OS 8.6 on a 8600/200 PPC. This computer did nothing but crunch for 72 hrs to complete one work unit. So it does work, just real slooow. By the way, your 233 Mhz will take about 24 - 26 hrs to complete a unit. I have a B/W G3/300 that takes 22 - 24 hrs per unit. I also run two G4/450 that are crunching for 12 -14 hrs per unit. My son runs a eMac 1.25 Ghz take crunches a unit in about 7 - 8 hrs. An observation, I think SETI runs better in OS X than OS 9, slightly faster I think. Try it, the worst that can happen is it won't work but try it. My 2 cents.

Why? Nothing wrong with having a little fun.
I was expecting it to be more fun. A real pillow fight with girls in panties and tight white tank tops. :p

Miss the old typefaces, namely this one, Apple Garamond.
Ahhh, the amusing thing is that its still used on corporate notepaper (at least if you look at the letter sent after the lost-iPhone-4 calamity - its right there in Apple Garamond).

Does this come with any software CDs as per Marketplace rules?
What accessories(if any) comes with this? (ie battery(condition?), ac adapter...)
Original box or manuals included?
What size HDD?
Overall condition of case and LCD, any stuck dead pixels?

Recently, my mom came in while cleaning around my room, you know, just tiding up a bit. She unplugged my WD My Book Studio LX on accident, and quickly plugged it back in. Before, it was hitting speeds that it should normally hit, 800 megabits a second (FireWire 800). I did a verify of the disk, and tried to repair it, but got that the disk COULD NOT be unmounted. The disk is now trailing along at speeds of about 17 GB/10 minutes, which is only about 30 megabytes a second, when normally is should be around 100 megabytes (800 megabits) a second. I even restarted the computer, but haven't tried resetting the SMU yet, would that help?
If you have had any past experiences that you have resolved, PLEASE, tell me below, and I'd gladly appreciate it! (:

The plan is to use the new ipad 2 to record myself in HD,but i've a rather expensive mesa boogie rectifier amp so would like to capture its sound and not a distortion created by garageband, i just want to use garage band for recording and editing the track to fit with the video.
Can you recommond a decent preamp?
i think what you're really after is an interface, not just a preamp. that'll give you a/d conversion for recording, and d/a conversion for monitoring. look here (http://www.sweetwater.com/shop/computer-audio/audio_interfaces/) for an idea of what's available.
for laptop recording, you'd want one with either a USB or firewire interface. not sure how you'd hook up something like this to an ipad, though.

Hey all,
I've recently started shooting a lot of DSLR photos and videos, and want to upgrade to a machine that can handle RAW images and H.264 videos faster than my mini. I just sold my trusty Mac mini 2.0 C2D, which was my workhorse photo and video editing/encoding machine, as it was getting a little long-in-the-tooth.
Essentially, I want a machine that will let me move from iPhoto to Aperture, and iMovie to Final Cut Express. Not pro-level software, but prosumer. I do no absolutely no gaming (hence base model MBP), but do rip/encode videos for my iPad using Handbrake, as I travel frequently. This machine is probably going to be stationary positioned at my desk, as I have a PC for work/school (I ::hate:: Mac Excel), so portability is a "nice-to-have" but will likely not be transported ever.
I've narrowed my choices down to:
- MacBook Pro 15" 2.0GHz i7/8GB RAM/ HD Anti-glare screen/SSD + HDD (using Optibay)
- iMac 27" 3.1GHz i5/8GB RAM/HDD only
The pros of the MacBook Pro seem to be:
- Easy ability to upgrade and use SSD as scratch and HDD as main storage
- Hyperthreading on the i7, which seems to come in handy as the three programs I'll be using the most are optimized for it (Aperture, Final Cut Express, Handbrake)
The pros of the iMac seem to be:
- Beautiful 27" screen
- Faster clock speed (but at the cost of hyperthreading)
What should I choose?

The late '05s have much better airport reception than the older the older G5s without the built in antennas.
$50 seems like a good deal. The combo card itself is dirt cheap, it's just that riser card that is hard to find which is why they are more expensive.

Safe as long as you accept the consequences. Let's leave it at that.
No, it's not safe. Just because someone accepts the consequences doesn't make it safe.

I'm thinking of getting into iOS development. I need something different to do on the side and I'm just gathering facts at this point. I do have a pretty good C++ background from college, so it sounds like I'd just have to look into Objective C, etc. Again, I'm just looking at this as something to play around with as a side job. I'm just curious to hear from you all if it's worth my time.
Is there any money to be made as just an individual developer?
What type of revenue are you guys seeing from iAds?
How did you get started?
I've always wanted to use my programming background, and I love my Apple devices, so it seems like a way to bring all of that together.
Just looking for some direction. Thanks in advance.

In settings you can set it so it never goes to sleep. However, that eats up a lot of battery. Do you have it plugged in at night?

Just buy an adaptor? Fairly sure if you search iPhone 2G Headphone adapter or similar you will find one, just makes it fit.
