For detailed information about steps you can take to ensure a safe trip, see How to Have a Safe Trip. Meanwhile, here are some quick tips to make your travel easier and safer:
Sign up for the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program so the State Department can better assist you in an emergency: Let us know your travel plans through the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, a free online service at https://travelregistration.state.gov. This will help us contact you if there is a family emergency in the U.S., or if there is a crisis where you are traveling. In accordance with the Privacy Act, information on your welfare and whereabouts will not be released to others without your express authorization.
Sign passport, and fill in the emergency information: Make sure you have a signed, valid passport, and a visa, if required, and fill in the emergency information page of your passport.
Leave copies of itinerary and passport data page: Leave copies of your itinerary, passport data page and visas with family or friends, so you can be contacted in case of an emergency.
Check your overseas medical insurance coverage: Ask your medical insurance company if your policy applies overseas, and if it covers emergency expenses such as medical evacuation. If it does not, consider supplemental insurance.
Familiarize yourself with local conditions and laws: While in a foreign country, you are subject to its laws. The State Department web site at http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1765.html has useful safety and other information about the countries you will visit.
Take precautions to avoid being a target of crime: To avoid being a target of crime, do not wear conspicuous clothing or jewelry and do not carry excessive amounts of money. Also, do not leave unattended luggage in public areas and do not accept packages from strangers.
Contact us in an emergency: Consular personnel at U.S. Embassies and Consulates abroad and in the U.S. are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to provide emergency assistance to U.S. citizens. Contact information for U.S. Embassies and Consulates appears on the Bureau of Consular Affairs website at http://travel.state.gov. Also note that the Office of Overseas Citizen Services in the State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs may be reached for assistance with emergencies at 1-888-407-4747, if calling from the U.S. or Canada, or 202-501-4444, if calling from overseas.

a) phone just came out
b) probably not. The iPhone gets warm when you charge it+ use gps/3G antenna, the color of the phone doesn't change how it dissipates heat.
If your phone is just in your car, not being used, then yes it will probaly heat up less because it's white, but it will not cool down any faster

Hmm, I missed that thread, as well as when that model first showed up. I've been checking pretty consistently. It must have gone quickly the first time around.
The one I listed from RefurbMe was available for 60 minutes before someone bought it.

For those that are interested in anime, I just noticed that Trigun is now being streamed on Netflix. It's a very good anime series and I recommend watching at least the first six episodes.

So we were cleaning out the attic today, and we found some of our old computers. We found:
Macintosh Powerbook 145 - circa 1992 - still works fine, b&w screen, flight simulator, the works
Macintosh Performa 6115CD - circa 1994 - it may work, i'm not sure... but the specs on the box are hilarious
Not pictured, we found an iMac G3, the slot-loading 700mhz version, that doesnt work

What Mac OS X version do you have?
If you have Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard you can reinstall Mac OS X without losing your data and it should restore it to a working OS.
I presume you don't have any backups?
Btw, what method or application(s) did you use to alter the look of Mac OS X?

I have one of these in my 2009 Air, and it honestly turned my Air into a whole different computer. The difference between it with the SSD and the old HDD is night and day.
Same here! Go with OWC and your old MBA becomes a totally new and significantly snappier machine that has a backlight keyboard.

Have you tried any of these steps?
Mac doesn't boot (http://guides.macrumors.com/Mac_doesn't_boot)
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck (http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1417)
Troubleshooting: My computer won't turn on (http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1367)

On their store, apple has their 160 day same-as-cash credit thing. I was just wondering if that is the same thing as if I bought my computer and then paid off the whole lump-sum before the 160 days, it would be interest-free? I'm confused Thanks for any help on the matter.
BTW, I did raise this question on another thread, but it was unrelated so I decided to make a new thread for this question to get more targeted answers.

Hi guys,
The hard drive on my MacBook got busted, so I had to buy a new one.
Usually, after mounting the new hard drive into my Mac I would just insert the OSX install cd to the optical drive and start installation. Unfortunately, my optical drive is broken and does not read any cd's.
What I had in mind was trying to get the operation system Installed from a USB flash. From what my google thought me I found out that I need to have a dmg file of OSX (got it), a 8 gb usb flash drive (got it) and disk utility access, so that I can restore the drive ( or something like that, I didn't fully get it).
The only problem is- this is my only Mac, all other computers I have are pc, so I dont have disk utility.
Is there any way in which I can do the necessary step that is done by Disk utility on a PC?
Thanks in advance.

For 1.1.1 all you need to do is visit JailBreakMe.com on your browser. It'll do the work for you via the Safari Exploit. This will not work on 1.1.2+.

I once returned a macbook after 14 days, the manager said he would make an exception for me. But generally, its 14 days, no restocking fee.
You also can't return product bought online in the Retail Store.
You have to call Apple and they'll email you a pre-paid UPS Shipping label to attach to your box to return ship it back to them.

I think Apple hope sooner or later you'll crumble and buy a MacBook just so you can finally use it :D

Nice find, but just say "NO" to forced bundles.
Some people have had success returning the games they didn't want in store. YMMV
