Weird problem. I know that sometimes when I close the lid on my pBook and then open it, my hard drive icon will move. I always put it in the upper right hand corner, but sometimes it will just move down 2 inches, none of the other icons move.

Hopefully the other 2011 models will soon follow. I had a suspicion it would be soon since the MBP no longer have the "new" icon when you enter the store.
Edit: Obviously the Title should say MBP instead of MPB
Second Edit: Guess I was a bit late to the party http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1140219&highlight=2011+refurbished

Interesting...Then somebody could theoretically obtain a product or probably only a serial illegally and just make a phone call to Apple and register it on his name...
That is not a safe system.

It seems odd that there isn't a Tips, Help and Troubleshooting sub-forum for the iPod Touch when there is for the iPad and iPhone, and I think that the Touch forum is more popular than the iPad forum.....

When you say map what, exactly, do you mean? A folder (or in Unix terms a directory)?
yea, a folder :P

You can probably get that to work, but you can't us Boot Camp Assistant to get you started. You will have to create a FAT32 partition in Disk Utility and then use that as a target for your Windows install.
Which versions of Windows are supported on your Mac will depend on which Mac it is so you may want to tell us.
The main difference between doing it this way and Boot Camp Assistant, is that BCA sets the default boot to the Windows partition, you will need to hold Alt/Option every time you boot when the Windows installer wants a reboot.
B
Okay yep I understand, however will my Mac recognise the install CD when I boot to the empty Windows partition?
Are you using VirtualBox? Or something else?
Not currently using anything to partition, just disk utility.

usually it means it a smily like :D but animated like it is on this site not in just letters and characters. Mail wont render it so it comes up as a square, but on an iphone it should work, t does with mine at least.

Hello fellow iPhone lovers!
I own an iPhone 4. In some time, i've noticed that i have some bubbles on the inside of the backside glass of it. Here's a picture: http://img641.imageshack.us/i/imag0056r.jpg/
Then yesterday evening i noticed, that i where able to make a clicking noise with the backside of the two glasspieces, which got me worried. I therefore went down to the gymnasium i study at (who sold me the iPhone), and the IT guy there quickly explained that the bubbles were indeed signs of water. He then tightned the screws, so that i werent able to make the clicking noise anymore.
My questions are:
If it's some kind of water damage, and the back hasnt been tightned enough,is it then my responsibility if water got in? As far as i'm aware, my iPhone 4 has never been in contact with water, which is what confuses me most (maybe highest handsweat, but that should'nt be enough to cause such a problem - or should it?).
So what can i do about it, and will the normal Apple warranty cover the the "damages" (the phone is still fully opperational)?
Sincerely,
Mikkel, Denmark

Seriously - you tout Macs on your work place the way that JWs try to convert people? Or is it your colleagues who try to make you throw your Mac out the window the way they are tempted to do with their computers?
Haha, nope. Its interesting, the fact that they know you do, is all the ammo they need. I usually laugh it off though. " I can build a PC, and make it so much cheaper and faster, than an over priced out of data mac pro." or " Alienware... nuff said"
No I do not tout Apple at work like a JW going door to door, again, simply them knowing what you use at home, is all they need or care about and its on. I have always held a position.. to each's own.
Assuming the latter case is the fact: It would be interesting to know which OS your colleagues use. If they use Windows, you can tell them that if they want to be elitist, they should at least use Linux. And if they already use Linux, you can tell them to use real UNIX instead of the clone (Mac OS X is BSD).
Most use Windows 7 and a good few use varies Linux OS.
P.S. Nothing against JW's. ;-)
Wake up roadbloc! lol

Hi,
I have a VPN connection from Strong VPN set up on a Mac Mini.
I would like to specify that Boxee uses this connection, but no other traffic from or to my computer should use it.
Is this possible?
Sincerely,
Aslak Ege

I ran a text sample of my name through this using all of my fonts and I couldn't replicate it on CS3. When I got to an unreadable foreign language font, it showed those open rectangles for the letters, but no "bong of frustration". I never edited my font list and braille isn't there. Maybe I just don't "see" it...:)

Hmmm... Thanks for trying... Maybe ill make a quick screen-cap-vid and host it when I have time :(

Okay I'm using the Lion Developers preview, all legit. When I try and open applications that I've moved from the Snow Leopard partition to Lion I just get a error telling me that the app could not be opened as it is not compatible. This happens with Apple products such as iWork and iLife, but some third party apps still work! Obviously this is not surprising and will doubtless be fixed, but will the whole OS be updated to be able to run these apps or will we have to upgrade applications separately in order to be able to run them :)
Cheers x
You don't move apps from one partition with one OS to another partition with a different OS. Ain't gonna work. Instead, reinstall iWork/iLife using the supplied DVDs.
On mine, I've yet to find a single app that is "not compatible" with DP2.

Ahh yes, I suppose I didn't say, it would be your first one, a more red vs blue thing. And yes I have it scripted out. Thanks for the advice both of you.
Just wanted to say from looking at your signature you definitely have enough equipment to carry out your task!

yes you guys are right.. my apologies for not being clearer... now to find a mac app for wmv movies and my mac will finally be MS free. :)
You should check out VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html). It plays pretty much any video format you can imagine (including WMV).

I'd imagine the logo on Apple TV to be some kind of Vector, or some amalgamation that doesn't have the shading effects due to it needing to be displayed on different colours of background.
Thats my *guess*. I don't think its a whole new logo.
